The Family’s name was chosen to emphasize the respect members have for one another as brothers, each being on the same footing without regard to status or position, a place where one is never a stranger.

In the relaxed environment of The Family’s City Home in Downtown San Francisco, members enjoy a rich and friendly social network. Additionally, The Family’s redwood preserve in the mid-Peninsula called The Family Farm offers the tranquility of a private retreat and open-air entertainment venue.

Members and guests have long been drawn to The Family’s entertainment offerings. The Family has world-class musicians including its own orchestra, choral groups, a big band, rock and roll bands, country western, jazz and Dixieland bands.

Theatrical productions ranging from the dramatic to the comedic are staged by The Family’s sound and lighting crews, directors, writers, make-up and costume crews. Artists’ paintings, sculptures and photography adorn our walls and informal groups gather during our summer encampments for vintage automobile rallies, wine tasting, lectures and more.

These amazing experiences are further enhanced by the exquisite food and beverage offerings from a staff who know every member by name.

The Family is also unique through its founding and support of a hospital in rural Guatemala to supply critical medical services to the native population. There is also an independent charitable foundation that helps individuals in need in our local communities.
